NEMO – CASSINA: NEW LIGHTS OF 2011

Only a few months ago we wrote about our impressions of Nemo-Cassina‘s new products when we went to visit them in Milan at Salone Internazionale Del Mobile and now they’ve sent us  their new 2011 product brochure to formally introduce the many new and beautiful additions to the  Nemo “Classici” and “Contemporanei” lines.

As the lighting division of Cassina, Nemo has followed closely in Cassina’s tradition of collaborating with some of the most influential and compelling architects and designers of the twentieth century. Their designers have been at the forefront of innovation in the use of new materials and have all produced designs that have a very particular aura of minimalist elegance.

Here in this Brochure they introduce the newest of their “Classici” series with works by Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, Franco Albini and Mario Bellini.

Left: Nuvola Pendant, designed by Mario Bellini, 1974  |  Right: 601 Table Lamp, designed by Franco Albini and Franca Helg, 1968
Left: Lampe de Marseille Pendant, designed by Le Corbusier, 1954  |  Right: Applique A Volet Pivotant Wall Sconce designed by Charlotte Perriand, 1962

The new additions to the “Contemporanei” series is made up of no less impressive a line up, with works by Yasutoshi Mifune, Javier Mariscal, Roberto Paoli, Agatha Ruiz De La Prada, Ilaria Marelli and Jehs+Laub.

BEST OF: INDUSTRIAL LIGHTING

We all, no doubt, routinely visit the many great lifestyle and culture blogs out there that continue to expound the culture of home decor. They inspire us to experiment with as many old things as new. Of late, serious retailers and home owners alike have been looking to the ephemera of industry to illuminate their spaces.  It’s clear that after so many years what may have seemed to be a trend, is no trend at all, but rather a sustained interest in the unfinished and durable sensibility of the industrial. No where has this trend been more pervasive than lighting and since lighting has always been a huge consideration for any serious home decorator, we thought we’d share some of our favourite industrial pendants.
