Fontana Arte is a renowned Italian design company which was founded in 1932 by architect Gio Ponti (1891-1979). He is one of the most prominent and prolific designers of the last century. An architect, poet, a painter, an industrial designer, and founding editor of the quintessential Domus magazine.
Fontana Arte is a company which has always retained a strong link with the world of design. Constantly evolving and collaborating with some of the best Italian and international architects and lighting designers, it is no wonder that Fontana Arte is a mark of quality and design.

RUF Project (Rural Urban Fantasy Project) recently completed this swoon-worthy home on Saltspring Island, BC. Inspired by West Coast mid-century modernists – especially Arthur Erickson – the house is a contemporary take on the longhouse that pushes the concept of post and beam to its limits.
LightForm was ecstatic to work with RUF whose client’s design brief of rustic Canadian cabin meets modern villa, allowed them relatively free rein.

The Moooi Dandelion pendant hanging in the Dining Area
“True to it’s name, the Dandelion was initially inspired by the plant. The lamp transmits an explosive feeling of energy in motion, energy to lighten up and blow away the heaviness of everyday life. Dandelion is truly a breath of fresh air“

“A feeling of simplicity, softness, lightness and a touch of magic in Contemporary style”

Vibia Wind 4080 Pendant
Vibia Wind 4055 Floor Lamp
Vibia’s showing this year at Salone Internazionale Del Mobile was a true testament to the company’s leadership in the lighting industry. The brand has consistently allowed new lighting and production technologies to guide their aesthetic inspiration, seeing new opportunities for form with each new technology.
Designer Jordi Vilardell excels in his partnership with Vibia once more in composing two unique additions to an already strong outdoor line. His playful outdoor floor and pendant series, Wind, has garnered much attention on several design blogs and his partnership with Meritxell Vidal in creating the Halley series has us all a little awe-struck. Inspired by the arches of a comet, the many iterations of the Halley series’ soft glow and luminous arches use LED strip technology to provide elegant, energy efficient lighting for the outdoors.

Inspired by a sketch by Pio Manzù and designed in tandem with Achille Castiglioni in 1970, the Parentesi seems like the complete culmination of the modernist manifesto: form as necessary function, the expulsion of ornament and the symphonic composure of a product that draws its beauty from its simplicity.
